Syrians planning to invest in Smarhon agriculture

Investors want to organize the production of cheese and promise to bring German and Dutch cows to Kreva.

According to the Chairman of the Smarhon rayon executive committee Henadz Kharuzhyk, cost of the Kreva company assets (that are of interest to Syrian investors) is 62 billion rubles, 20% of this amount they have to pay immediately.

Several years ago, businessmen bought from Smarhon former bread plant to create the production of cheese and other dairy products. Experts estimate that it will take up to 50 tons of milk. But agricultural enterprises operating in the Smarhon rayon cannot fully provide the new plant with raw materials, as they first deliver milk to the company Smarhon Dairy Products.

As a result, investors decided to revive the Kreva plant. According to the Chairman of the Smarhon rayon executive committee, this company has outstanding loans, virtually no working capital, based on financial indicators, Kreva is in the penultimate place in the area. If investors implement a business plan, the farm will have up to 2.5 thousand cows (now 800), which will be brought from Germany and Holland.

There are about 150 farms in Hrodna region. One in three is unable to pay the loans. About 20 of the collective farms are simply insolvent.
