Strong partnership: Russia may deny permission to go abroad to travel banned Belarusians

Minsk and Moscow are to sign an agreement about exchange of information about the Union State’s citizens restricted to travel abroad, Aliaksei Biahun, head of the citizenship and migration department, said in Minsk on Wednesday.

“A number of intergovernmental agreements between Belarus and Russia in the field of migration are close to completion, in particular, an agreement between the governments of Belarus and Russia on the procedure of exchange of information about citizens of the two states, who are banned from travelling abroad,” the official said at an expert and media seminar on the formation of the single migration space in the Union State.

The Federal Migration Service of Russia and the Interior Ministry of Belarus are also set to sign a protocol on exchanging database information about foreigners.

It is to be recalled that a number of Belarusian journalists, civil activists and politicians were banned from leaving Belarus in 2011-2012, including Belsat TV representatives.
