Rahachou woman's suicide not caused by tax office letter -- police

Police have disproved information that the woman who had hanged herself in Rahachou had received a letter from the tax office.

After looking into the death of the 54-year-old resident of Rahachou district, the Investigative Committee found that the woman had not been brought to suicide.

This was reported by the official representative of the Investigative Commitee Department for Homiel Oblast Maryia Kryvanohava.

The woman lived alone. Her husband died a few years ago, her daughter is working in Russia, and her son is in prison. Two years ago, she lost her job.

As the investigation, the woman’s relatives and friends claimed she had been abusing alcohol for a long time. She tried to quit several times but failed. She had repeatedly brought up suicide.

According to the forensic examination, the woman’s death was the result of compression of the neck with the hanging loop. She had alcohol in her blood in the amount of 2.3 ppm.

The reason for the suicide was the depression and alcohol abuse, Rahachou police report.

“It is well established that the woman did not receive a letter from the tax office demanding a fee to finance government spending in 2015,” emphasized the Homiel region police.
