On August 21, the National Bank of Belarus has established new exchange rates based on the Belarusian Currency and Stock Exchange trading.

The U.S. dollar rose by 232 Belarusian rubles – up to Br 16,730. The euro went up by 499 Belarusian rubles and reached Br 18,837. The Russian ruble fell and is being sold at Br 245,72.

Some banks have already set a price of Blr17,050 per dollar.

“In conditions of the market-driven exchange rate mechanism future changes of the Belarusian ruble’s exchange rate would depend a lot on external factors, primarily prices for oil and changes of the exchange rate of the national currencies in the countries, which are Belarus’ main trade partners,” Pavel Kalaur, Head of the National bank, stressed.

Over the past week the U.S. dollar has taken a 706-ruble jump; the euro exchange rate has also skyrocketed and Blr 1,101 increased.
