Russians side with police even in case of repressive measures - Putin

The Russian society is able to discern the cause of police violence, Vladimir Putin said at a meeting of the Interior Ministry Board.

“Even when law enforcers use – let’s call it simply – repressive measures against persons who step outside the bounds of law, our people see that this was done for the sake of the whole society, and they support [such measures],” Putin said.

Crime is growing in Russia, the president stressed.

“In 2015, there was nearly 20% increase in the number of crimes. It is bad that crime is rising,” he addded.
