Russians oppose destruction of banned food products

More than 150 thousand people have already signed the petition at change.org. The authors urge to give the unwanted products to citizens in need, BBC reports.

“Why do we need to destroy fresh European products that can be used to feed  veterans, pensioners, the disabled, large families affected by natural disasters, and others in demand”

The Kremlin has responded: Putin’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said that the decree will enter into force on 6 August and is binding.

Under the new law, the products that fall under the embargo, will be destroyed in “any way possible”: poured out, burnt, buried. Yesterday in Samara, the authorities got rid of 114 tons of pork.
