Russian policeman to protesters at World Cup final: I wish it were 1937


Four Pussy Riot activists dressed in police uniforms ran out to the playing field during the World Cup final match on Sunday.

Their protest action was called ‘Policeman Coming Into Play’.

Pussy Riot urged the Russian authorities to release political prisoners and stop political persecution.

The activists (Pyotr Verzilov, Olga Pakhtusova, Nika Nikulshina, Olga Kurachova and others) were detained and taken to the police station. A bit later, a video of their conversation with policemen.

One of them expressed outrage over the fact that FIFA might impose a fine on Russia due to the activists’ actions. When Verzilov said the uniforms had been rented, the police officer answered:

“Sometimes I regret that it is not the year of 1937 now. You just wanted to sh*t all over Russia, huh?”

Administrative protocols have been drawn upon the activists for violation of rules of conduct at sporting events aswell as for putting police uniforms on.
