The coach of the Russian Olympic team Vladimir Kamelzon considers Belarus tennis team to be the potential winner of the World Group Fed Cup playoff match. The athlete said that the Belarusian team is more likely to win it than Russia.
“The Russian team does not look a favorite, because the youth is playing. Azarenka has now shown that she is in a good shape, Belarus President Alyaksandr Lukashenka is watching over her — she did not accidentally come to Moscow to defend the colors of the Belarus flag. You cannot compare the skill and experience of Azarenka with those of our youth team.”
The Russia – Belarus match will be held in Moscow at the Small Sports Arena “Luzhniki” on April 16-17. The Russian team includes Elena Vesnina (51 BTA), Daria Kasatkina (32), Margarita Gasparyan (47) and Lizaveta Kulichkova (111). The Belarusian team will be present by the fifth-ranked Victoria Azarenka and Olga Govortsova (99), Alyaksandra Sasnovich (100) and Aryna Sabalenka (258).
Earlier, Azarenka confirmed her participation in the Fed Cup match against Russia.
