Russian citizen goes to law against Vladimir Putin, ‘enemy of the people’


Nikolai Suvorov, a resident of Russia’s Saratov region is seeking to impeach Vladimir Putin and remove him from the presidental post for his alleged involvement in ‘looting Russia, impoverishment of the Russian people, wealth accumulation by top officials, bankers and corrupt billionaires’.

According to Mr Suvorov, the incumbent leader is an ‘enemy of the people’.

The resolution on the preparation for a court hearing was published on the website of Saratov Region Arbitration Court.

A preliminary consideration of the case is scheduled for April 28. In accordance with Russian legislation, Vladimir Putin is to file his comment to Suvorov’s appeal to the court and the claimant.

Nikolai Suvorov made an attempt to file a lawsuit against Putin in March 2016, but then the court failed to respond to his appeal.
