Russian agricultural watchdog: Too much preservatives in Belarusian cheeses

Rosselkhoznadzor, Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance, has found dangerous preservatives in Belarusian cheeses. The batch of poor-quality food products is arrested.

According to Russian media, Belarusian-made Tilsiter and Pesto Green contained too much sodium nitrate E25: its mass fraction was two times the allowable norm.

One of the producers, a Hrodna-based milk company, has already responded to the claim and promised they would do their best to avoid a similar situation.

Last week Russia accused Belarus of smuggling food to Russia. This year Rosselkhoznadzor has found hundreds of fake certificates on imported products from third countries, that arrived in Russia from Belarus. According to Russian authorities, the Belarusian inspectors not only fail to detect counterfeit products, but also prevent their Russian colleagues from doing it.
