Russia world's second arms exporter, Ukraine - ninth

Over the past five years, Russia has become one of the main buyers of Ukrainian arms.

This is stated in a report on trends in the global arms market published by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).

In 2010-2014, Russia’s exports in the world market were 27%. This is the second figure after the US (31%). Ukraine was on the ninth position with 3%.

The main buyers were Russia, India, China and Algeria, and from Ukraine – China, Thailand, and Russia …. 10% of the sold Ukrainian weapons went to its eastern neighbor.

India was the main importer of weapons in the past year. It is followed by Saudi Arabia, China and the United Arab Emirates. As can be seen, the rich Gulf countries are interested in weaponry. They may potentially help create the Belarusian arms, military expert Alyaksandr Alesin said recently in a conversation with Belsat.
