Russia wants to introduce ration cards

Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade has suggested to the government the concept of ration cards for the poor.

As TASS agency learned from deputy head of department, Viktor Evtukhov, document was suggested to the government last week, and, if it is approved, the Ministry of Industry will offer to make the necessary changes to the legislation.

According to Tass, the issue of cards began to be discussed in the ministry in the fall of 2014 – due to the sharp devaluation of the ruble and the increase in prices of some kinds of food, which was influenced by the embargo imposed by Russia in response to Western sanctions.
