Russia tests weapons: Cruise missile hits house where kindergarten located

The Russian Defense Ministry called the incident an ‘emergency situation’.

In the course of tests a cruise missile fell on a multi-family house in the village of Sopka (Arkhangelsk region, Russia) on December, 15. A kindergarten was located in this building, news29.ru reports with reference to local residents

According to them, nursery was lodged on the ground floor.

The missile hit the roof of the three-story block and damaged two apartments, eyewitnesses told agency interfax.ru. The outbreak of fire got extinguished soon. Nobody was hurt in the incident.

The Russian military and industrial corporation ‘Mashinostroyeniye’ (Engineering), the developer of the missile, states that ‘a missile did not get into the house’, but promises to renovate the block of flats.

The tests were carried out at the Defense Ministry’s training range near the city of Severodvinsk on December, 15. When launched, the missile strayed from the desired path.
