Russia's soft power: Separatist republic representant wins teacher competition in Minsk


Minsk was hosting the 4th Golden Inkpot Competition in October 8-13. The competition for teachers of Russian was held on the initiative of the International Pedagogical Club and under the auspices of the Ministry of Education of Belarus.

The event has a large backing from the Russkiy Mir Foundation. It aims at ‘sharing educators’ experience, motivating students to learn Russian language and literature and preserving the cultural heritage of the Russian people’.

This year, twelve educators representing Russia, Belarus, Estonia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and the so-called Donetsk Republic qualified for the final.

And the representative of the latter, Larisa Dyachenko from School No. 1 in Donetsk won the competition.

“This is another proof of the high level of teaching Russian language and literature in the Donetsk People’s Republic,” the ‘Education Ministry’ of the separatist republic commented on the victory.
