Return to Big Eight with Russia not yet possible

German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Japanese Prime Minister Abe Shinzo explained why the most influential politicians of the world will not sit down at the same table with the head of Russia.

Just before the G7 Summit, which will be held in June 2015, ‘the Crimea issue’ remains unresolved, said the German Chancellor Angela Merkel during a meeting with the head of the Japanese government on March 8.

In turn, Shinzo Abe stressed that the G7 and Russia are not yet able to conduct a meaningful dialogue and drew attention to the fact that the conflict in Donbass can turn into a global problem, and then the international security would be threatened.

German Chancellor stressed that Moscow ‘ignores the territorial integrity of Ukraine’. Japanese Prime Minister promised together with Angela Merkel to turn to Russia for ‘a peaceful and diplomatic’ solution to the conflict in eastern Ukraine.
