Russia: ‘Ukrainian’ sausage renamed to ‘Belarusian’

“What’s sausage got to do with it?” a Russian resident who took a photo of the sausage that has suddenly ‘changed nationality’ makes no disguise of her feelings. “Some weeks ago it was called ‘Ukrainian’!”

Indeed, the website of its manufacturer, Bryansk meat cutting plant, offers a similar-looking sausage called ‘Ukrainian Original’.

“We have the sausage called ‘Belarusian’. And there was also ‘Ukrainian’, but we are constantly revising our product offering. This is not a big deal,” a representative of the plant seemed to be very surprised when reached by belsat.eu.

“I am not a politician, but a consumer … Well, I have not been eating sausage for three years. I buy it for my mother, she likes this ‘Ukrainian’ sausage. I was taken aback when I saw the same sausage made by the same manufacturer who following the same recipe. It was sold at the same price, but under a different name. I asked a shop assistant who answered that the sales manager warned them that this sausage is the same old ‘Ukrainian’, but now it is called ‘Belarusian’,” Liliya Matyukhina, the author of the photo, says.
