Putin compares Lenin's tomb to Christian relics

Russian President Vladimir Putin compared Lenin’s Mausoleum to the relics of Christian saints.

“Look, Lenin was put in the mausoleum. Well, and how is it different from the relics of saints for the Orthodox people, or for all Christians? Some people tell me that Christianity does not have such a tradition. Really? Visit Holy Mount Athos and you will see that there are relics of saints, and we have holy relics here [in Russia], too,” the Russian leader said in an interview for the film “Balaam”.

Its author is Russian TV presenter and journalist Andrei Kondrashov.

In his opinion, the ideology of Communism, which was being created in the USSR, is ‘very similar to Christianity’.

“Liberty, equality, fraternity, justice – all these ideas were in the Holy Scriptures. The Moral Code of the Builder of Communism was sort of sublimation, it was just a primitive adoption of the excerpt from the Bible, nothing new has come up,” he said.

According to Putin, some people might not like what he said.

Previously, Kondrashov directed the film “Crimea. Path to the Homeland”, which was released in 2015. Last week it became known that he had also made a film about Putin. It is expected to be shown before the presidential election. The title of the film and its release date are not yet reported.
