Prices to be deregulated, food products to cost up to 30% more


The government has dropped state regulation of prices. The Council of Ministers decided to lift the ban on price increases in the retail segment of the economy.

Restrictions were introduced in December 2014. It was done during the fall of the Belarusian currency against the dollar and the euro.

The regulation of the Council of Ministers provides that the responsibility for the prices in the country will lie with the Deputy Prime Minister Vasil Matsyusheuski.

Next month prices may rise by as much as 30%. It is how much the fish, imported fruits and vegetables rose in price during the two months of 2015.
