Poroshenko family meets Ice Bucket Challenge (video)

Marina Poroshenko, the wife of Ukraine’s President, their son and two daughters have done the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and transferred funds to people suffering from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and to Ukraine’s volunteer movement.

The Ice Bucket involves dumping a bucket of ice water on someone’s head to promote awareness of the disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and encourage donations to research. It went viral on social media in July–August 2014.

The first lady handed the baton to Nattallia Zabolotnaya, Director of the Art. Arsenal, Yana Konotop, a Channel 5 anchorwoman and designer Viktoriya Gres.

“My family has met the Ice Bucket Challenge and transferred money to the movement ‘Volunteers’ Hundred’. Join them! Glory to Ukraine!” Petro Poroshenko said on Facebook.

Ice Bucket Challenge participants might have repeatedly challenged different countries’ leaders, but none of them have dared to do it on camera. For example, actor Vin Diesel and director David Lynch offered Vladimir Putin to pick up the torch.

A schoolboy from the Belarusian town of Berazino wanted Aliaksandr Lukashenka to take part in the action but in vain.
