Belarusian citizen attempts to smuggle tank parts into Poland


Polish customs officers seized from a Belarusian driver generators and voltage regulators which are used in tracked military vehicles.

10 devices that were being transported in the truck by the 44-year-old man caught the eye of the customs inspectors.

“A thourough inspection proved that there were parts of armed combat vehicles. In accordance with the law on foreign trade in goods, technologies and services of strategic importance for national security and peacekeeping, one should have a special permit to sell such equipment,” the press service of the Customs Chamber in Bialystok says.

As the driver did not have such a permit, the equipment was confiscated.

The Internal Security Agency Department in Bialystok has launched a probe into the case. The Belarusian may face up to 10 years of imprisonment for illegal trade in goods of strategic importance for the security of the state.
