Polish anti-terror expert: Man with cane could be Sharamet's killer

Video of the explosion that killed Pavel Sharamet was commented on by Andrzej Mroczek,  former head of the antiterror operational unit of the Warsaw police.

He is now a anti-terrorism expert at the Research Center of the Collegium Civitas and City Security. Siarhiej Pieliasa interviewed the expert for Belsat.eu.

Belsat: What caught your eye on this recording?

Andrzej Mroczek: The man in a hat with a stick behaves unnaturally. Note that at the beginning of the video the man is coming from the direction the Sharamet’s car was moving. He reaches the intersection and holds on. The car has not reached the intersection, but he is already lingering with his back to the street. At the time of the explosion, he was still with his back to the car and did not even move from the explosion. After the explosion, note his left hand. He seems to be rearranging something so it does not fall out of his pocket.

Belsat: He pulls his hand out of the left pocket and puts the stick from his right hand under his left arm and begins to run.

Andrzej Mroczek: Only after a moment, he turns around and when he sees people running to the car he begins to run. He no longer needs a stick. At first I thought that he was deaf. But it seems that it was the person used to explosions.

Former Warsaw antiterrorists expert adds: He runs like a young man and not like a person who uses a stick. He is acting strange: the hat, the stick, runs like a young man. The question arises: was he the man who waited for the police and gave a testimony? After all, if he moved away from the car, there is a chance that he ran up to the car only to check if Sharamet had died. It is possible that he could detonated an explosive device at a distance.

Belsat: It is summer now. Almost no one is wearing caps and walks around in black jackets. This can be seen in the video published by the Channel 17.

Andrzej Mroczek: The stick and cap are pieces of camouflage.

Belsat: In the tough 90s you worked in the Warsaw police and fought organized crime. Did you come accross such killings in your career? What strange things did you notice?

Andrzej Mroczek: Yes. In this type of attempts, the performer is close and watching. He wants to make sure that the victim is dead. My experience tells me that this is a similar case”.
