Polonez launchers, Tor-M2 systems, Caimans: MoD equipping Belarus army


Belarus Security Blog has published a list of military equipment which will enter service with the Belarusian army in 2016.

The Belarusian Defense Ministry plans to acquire Russian-made Tor-M2 anti-aircraft missile system and Protivnik location radar, domestic Ross and Vostok stations, Russian Mi-8 MTV-5 military transport helicopters, Yak-130 combat trainer aircraft and modernized T-72 tanks.

The 332nd rocket artillery brigade is expected to add Belarusian-made Polonez multiple launch rocket systems to its armoury in September, 2016.

According to Belarus Security Blog, Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant and Minotor-Service unitary enterprise have been developing light armoured cars for the national army.

The Defense Ministry also placed an order with the 140th repair plant for advancing the BTR-70 and designing the Cayman armoured vehicle.

Extended-range rockets for BM-21 Grad launchers will be another novelty in the Belarusian army.
