Polish firm puts Crimea as part of Russia or Ukraine depending on map language

Globes of the Polish company Glowala in Russian show Crimea as part of Russia. Such globes are sold in Belarusian stores.

However, similar globes intended for the Polish market put Crimea in the territory of Ukraine. The peninsula on the globe of the same company for the Russian market is marked as territory of the Russian Federation.

Belarus does not produce globes, thus we get globes with the “Russian” Crimea. Some of them mark Belarus as “Belarussia”, Moldova – “Moldavia” and Crimea, South Ossetia and Abkhazia are referred to as Russian territory. This is contrary to the official Belarusian position, which did not recognize the occupation of Crimea, South Ossetia and Abkhazia. Incidentally, these globes end up in the Belarusian educational institutions.

“Belsat” asked the globe producer for official comment. In conversation with our reporter, representatives of the company noted that the globes with the “Russian” Crimea were not to enter Belarus.

“We do not know how they came to Belarus. These globes were ordered by a client from Russia, or even Ukraine. He explained to us that the Russian State Duma recognized Crimea as its territory, sent us the relevant documents. Russian manufacturers are required to make globes, maps and atlases in accordance with the Russian legislation, we would not have sold them with “Ukrainian” Crimea on the map. These globes might have came to Belarus via a wholesale supplier,” Glowala told Belsat.

The Polish language globe has Crimea as part of Ukraine.

The company pointed out that they produced globes for the Belarusian market, too, but they are in Russian, since there were no orders for globes in Belarusian yet.
