Police punish journalist for making reportage and helping people

Homiel police filed another protocol on Larysa Shchyrakova.

According to the police inspector of the Homiel district Dzmitry Chan, the freelance journalist violated Article 29 of the Administrative Code (illegal production and distribution of media products).

“Illicit media product” was a reportage called “Barysau tragedy could happen in Homiel” about the inhabitants of the newly built house in the village Balshavik, who have repeatedly complained about the shortcomings of the construction work and the accumulation of carbon monoxide in the apartments.[/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtdPOnm9vr0″][vc_column_text]”After the publication of the material, the gas service eliminated all the problems. Thanks to one publication, the problem that residents appealed to the authorities about for several years was solved,” said the journalist.

“To be honest, after the termination of two similar cases against me, I thought that common sense won and freelance journalists would no longer be pursued,” said Larysa. – But, apparently, the weakening of the grip was a tactical move of the authorities. As for the charges, according to the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus and Article 19 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, which Belarus has ratified, I have every right to gather and disseminate information. And I use this right,” said Larysa Shchyrakova.

Since the beginning of 2016, Larysa Shchyrakova had 4 protocols filed against her.
