Police confused dates, closed case against 'Belsat' journalists

Homiel law-enforcers have refused to draw up a report on the journalist Yauhen Merkis for violation of the Administrative Code article related to “illegal production and distribution of media materials”.

On March 25, the author of the story “Authorities want to close the museum, which recreates traditional Belarusian rites” was summoned to the police station. The case of the “illegal distribution of media’ was stopped over “lack of proof”. According to law enforcement, the story was filmed on March 20, but on that day the local museum was closed. The story was about that very museum.

Yauhen Merkis is still expected to face trial for the live stream from the Pinsk protests and interviews with Marzalyuk in Mahiliou.

Recall that this year the court of the Soviet district of Homiel fined our colleagues 30 basic units for covering the non-parasite protest in Rahachou.
