People injured, towns left without power -- hurricane hits Belarus


The Ministry of Emergency Situations has calculated the losses.

On July 13 the hurricane damaged the roofs of 622 houses and 108 other buildings. It is noted that wind gusts reached 21 meters per second. Two water towers fell in Cherven and Smalevichy districts of Minsk region. Power cuts were experincced by 1,126 settlements,  press service of Ministry of Emergency Situations reports.

The hurricane felled 4,250 trees, of which more than 3,600 in Minsk. In 447 cases, the trees fell on cars. Medical aid was provided to 36 people. Seven of them were hospitalized.

Movement of electric trains was disrupted in the direction of Asipovichy and Baranavichy.
