Over 50 attacks on Ukraine army: Russian-backed separatists use Grads, mortars, machine guns

Militants launched more than 50 attacks on positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Donbas over the past day, the press center of the Anti-Terrorist Operation headquarters reports.

Four Ukrainian servicemen were wounded.

“Fifty-nine ceasefire breaches committed by militants have been recorded over the past 24 hours,” Interfax Ukraine quotes the press service.

In Donetsk direction, Russian-backed militants used Grad rocket launcher systems and 120mm mortars to launch attacks on Ukrainian strongholds in southern outskirts of Avdiyivka (18km north of Donetsk), news agency Ukrinform reports. As a result, one civilian was wounded, four private residences were destroyed completely and over dozen residential buildings were damaged.

In Mariupol direction, militants used grenade launchers, small arms and 120mm mortars. Separatists also shelled heavy machine guns near Novooleksandrivka and Novozvanivka (Luhansk region).
