Сanned food instead of money earnings: Belarusians report problems to Belsat TV

Over the past few days, belsat.eu received several letters from our desperate readers and viewers.

On maternity leave? You are idler!

A woman who got a letter from a tax office in spite of her being on maternity leave, has reported her situation to Belsat. Her husband works for a construction company’ he has not received his salary for nearly 1.5 years.

“I can’t sit tight anymore. Although I am on maternity leave, I received a tax office letter. [The authorities] do not forget about me, but they forgot to pay money honestly earned by my husband who worked for Monolith Group, and they stopped paying salaries. Since September 2015, we still have not received anything; we have applied to all proper bodies and agencies. We have even a court’s decision, but it yields no result.”

In 2016, employees of Monolit Group filed a complaint to Belarus president Lukashenka asking him to solve the problem of withholding wages. As one can see, the cart remains there still.

In April 2015, Alyaksandr Lukashenka signed Decree Nr 3 that established the obligation of the citizens of Belarus, foreign citizens permanently residing in Belarus, stateless persons, who did not participate in the financing of public spending or participated in such financing less than 183 days (six months – ed.) in the past year, to pay a fee of 20 basic units (appr. $230).

Salary in shape of canned food

Another reader told belsat.eu about the current situation at a Homiel-based enterprise.

“According to my information, workers of state-run enterprise Homielagrakamplekt located in Surganau street have been paid in kind over the last 3-4 months; those who worked more than 15 years at the plant used to receive 250 rubles per month.”

Now they are given canned food amounting to 200 rubles instead of their monthly money payments, the source states.
