Nadiya Savchenko may be transferred to hospital in case of ‘pathological changes’

The Russian authorities might compromise over the Ukrainian pilot’s case if her health deteriorates, Anatoly Rudy, an official at Russia’s Penitentiary service, said on Tuesday.

At the same time he stressed that ‘no patholological changes’ are seen and added that the situation is ‘under control’.

“Her weight is stable, and various indicators of her state are stable and acceptable… We’re doing our best to control the situation. Almost every day we submit information about her state to the management service,” UNIAN quotes the official as saying.

According to the pilot, she was abducted in eastern Ukraine and secretly taken to Russia. Moscow states that Savchenko visited Russia under the pretence of a refugee and was arrested. Russia accuses her of killing two journalists.

The Ukrainian officer declares she will be on a hunger strike until Russia finds her innocent and delivers her to Ukraine. Savchenko is ready to die to restore justice, which cannot leave international community unfazed. But Russia has rejected Western calls for her release.

Nadiya Savchenko is also a MP and member of the country’s delegation to PACE.

On Monday President Petro Poroshenko awarded the title Hero of Ukraine to the pilot. The Ukrainian MPs and human rights activists urged her to stop hunger-striking but in vain.
