Meat products can cause cancer - WHO


The World Health Organization warns about the dangers of meat and meat products.

Agency for Cancer Research, one of the departments of the WHO, recently announced that the meat products are dangerous to human health. The Time reported that on the basis of 800 research studies, scientists say that ham, sausages and similar products cause cancer of the colon.

The source of carcinogens are chemicals that are added as preservatives or those appearing as a results of smoking.

Red meat is only “possibly dangerous”, since in itself it is, on the contrary, very beneficial because of iron, zinc and vitamin B12. It becomes “potentially carcinogenic” in the process of heat treatment – if the meat is fried or baked on the fire.

This does not mean that those who eat from time to time sandwiches with bacon are sure to develop cancer of the colon – experts say it is not necessary to immediately give up meat. But if someone eats a lot of it, you should consider limiting consumption.
