Belarus Interior Ministry unhappy with football federation's attitude to national emblem Pursuit

Commenting on the problems the fans have due to the use of “Pursuit” in stadiums, Syarhei Safaryan noted:

“All the information that the Federation received came from the fans. After all, the Ministry of Interior would not share it. There was a personal letter which said that we do not support the actions of law enforcement agencies and that was it. This situation is not over”.

According to Syarhei Safaryan, the Football Federation has a proposal that the Interior Ministry would not listen to. That’s why Syarhei Rumas (Chairman of the Belarusian Football Federation) will meet with the minister and personally discuss the matter with him.

“I would not like unjust actions to be taken against the fans, although we do not support those who really disturb the public order. There were enough of such fans at the match with Ukraine. You could hear a lot of swearing from the stands. But the police made selective arrests, which is interesting. We want there to be a third party who could give an objective evaluation in problematic cases. We need to increase the number of fans and improve the attitude of police officers to the audience. They are not criminals. We would like third party to testify in court not the police,” said Syarhei Safaryan.

Recently, the Minister of Internal Affairs Ihar Shunevich said that there was no responsibility for the use of the Pursuit coat of arms. He commented on the scandal surrounding the match of the national teams of Belarus and Macedonia, when scarves with “Pursuit” prompted arrests of five fans.
