Most Russians rule out early reconciliation in Ukraine – survey


It is highly unlikely that the sides of the conflicts in tha east of Ukraine will achieve accomodation in the months ahead, 68 % of respondents said in a survey conducted by Public Opinion Foundation. Only 16 % believe that reconciliation is on the horizon.

At that, 49 % of interviewees state that separatists want peace and are trying hard to reach it. According to 77 % of respondents, Kyiv is making no effort to resolve the conflict.

30% of participants believe that Russia should provide support to the so-called militia in Donbas, 27 % think Russia should refrain from backing anyone, 16% are in favour of non-intervention at all.

40% of interviewees want the status of an independent state for the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk people’s republics while 19% raised their voices for granting broad powers of autonomy to DPR and LPR as part of Ukraine.
