Moscow: Victory parade in Red Square

Russian infantry, military land vehicles and aircraft have taken part in today’s  parade dedicated to 71st anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic war.

Russia, Belarus and many other former Soviet republics commemorate Victory Day on May 9. Most European countries celebrate the victory over Nazi Germany on May 8 remembering the formal acceptance by the Allies of World War II of Nazi Germany’s unconditional surrender of its armed forces.

Among other things, during the parade Russia’s S-400 anti-aircraft weapon systems were demonstrated. Earlier it was reported that they would not appear at the event due to cost reasons.

Over 10,000  resentatives of all branches of Russia’s armed forces participated in the celebration; 135 units of military equipment and 71 planes and helicopters were involved.

A Victory parade also took place at the Russian military base in Syria.
