More and more Belarusians go abroad to work and settle down


According to the data provided by the Department of Citizenship and Migration of the Interior Ministry, the number of Belarusians who found work abroad has been growing steadily.

In the first quarter of 2017, 1,839 citizens of Belarus settled abroad. It is 719 people more than in the first quarter of the past year. Statistics of foreigners who came to work in Belarus is different. For the same period this year, their number decreased by 801 person.

Belarusians often find work in Russia (1,128), Poland (508) and Lithuania (55). Almost twice as many men than women go abroad for work. Of them, fewer residents of Minsk (62) leave compared to those from Brest and the region (75).

Belarus is the destination point for the Chinese and Ukrainians.

In the first quarter of 2017, 4,369 of migrant workers from 71 countries — including a man from Nepal, Trinidad and Tobago, Ivory Coast — arrived in Belarus. In January-March, the biggest numbers came from China (1,713), Ukraine (1,153) Russia (591), Lithuania (87), Armenia (84), Uzbekistan (83) and Kazakhstan (83). The Biggest number of migrant workers settled down in Minsk (2,387), and the smallest number — in the Mahiliou region (116).
