More than 60% of Belarusians do not listen to radio, about 50% do not read newspapers
Ideological work in Belarus is impossible without social networking, said First Deputy Minister of Communications and Informatization of Belarus Dzmitry Shadko.
In 2001, only 2% of Belarusians looked for information about politics online, now it is 44% of the population.
This figure was announced by Deputy Minister of Communications and Informatization of Belarus Dzmitry Shadko at the Republican workshop forum called “Ideological work and key provisions of the President’s Address to the Belarusian people and the National Assembly of Belarus,” agency Minsk-News reports.

“More than 60% of the population of Belarus do not listen to the radio, about 50% do not read newspapers, 10% do not watch TV, said the representative of the Ministry of Communications and Information. – We must consider this issue: not all of the information offered by us reaches people through existing channels. At the same time, all the advanced media outlets are now also working online: people read newspapers, listen to the radio, but in electronic form. Today, it is not enough to create a TV program or to write an article – you need to ensure that they came to the people in the house.”
Addressing the participants of the seminar, Mr Shadko spoke about mobile technology, noting that 50% of devices used in the Belarusian market are smartphones, in which mobile application allows you to “monopolize the contact with the specific consumer of information.”
First Deputy Minister for Communication and Information also said that the ideological work today is not possible without social networking.
“Yesterday in the country there were available 3-4 TV channels, today possibilities of digital television allowed to increase their number to 150, said the official. – Over time, people may no longer be able to navigate in this sea of information, so that they would need a technological intermediary who will help select the right content. This niche should be taken by a constructive force.”
