Minsk dweller puts white-red-white flag in window, gets taken away by police

White-red-white flag in window

Syarhei Mankevich put a white-red-white flag out of his flat’s window right across the Internal Affairs Ministry building in Minsk.

This drew attention of the police officers who tried to get into his flat on the morning of April 25.

Mankevich’s wife Iryna Shashko told Belsat how it happened:

“The man put a flag in the window of his apartment. The flat faces the Interior Ministry building. It happened last night, and at 8 am today there were already police officers at his door. He would not let anyone into the apartment. I came there with his brother and we just went into the apartment. They said they were taking him with, he was to sign a protocol, but not about the flag. They said they had received a heads up about some noise coming from the apartment. But I do not think it was true, because he was not a drunk, who would make a noise. I warned the police that he was seriously ill.”

Syarhei Mankevich was taken to the Moscow rayon police department of Minsk.
