Statkevich, Lyabedzka and Nyaklyayeu fined for unauthorized picket

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_video link=”https://youtu.be/9YdvxO-2Z3E”][vc_column_text]The Central Rayon Court of the capital announced, one by one, similar sentences for Mikalai Statkevich, Anatol Lyabedzka and Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu.

They were found guilty of organizing pickets, which took place near the GUM department store on Freedom Square in Minsk on September 23. Anatol Lyabedzka was also penalized for rally in memory of the disappeared politicians and public figures. He was the only politician who attended the court session.

ANATOL LYABEDZKA, UNITED CIVIC PARTY:

“Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu came to the porch of the Central Rayon Court, but did not go inside. He said that he has a score to settle with the judges of the Central Rayon Court.”

ULADZIMIR NYAKLYAYEU, EX-PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE:

The highest fine was given to Mikalai Statkevich. However, for most politicians, the main thing here is not the amount, but a symbolic warning from the authorities before the elections.

Despite the verdicts, the politicians are not giving up on future rallies and pickets. Statkevich urges people to take part in election meetings next Sunday, October 4, and next Saturday, October 10, the day before the voting day. The rallies are planned to take place at the Freedom Square.
