Investors wanted: Minsk Automobile Plant’s merger into Russian company removed from agenda

Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ) is in search of investors, including those from Europe and China, Deputy Minister of Industry Henadz Sviderski said on Thursday at a press conference in Minsk.

“We are looking for investors; we are negotiating both with Russia’s Kama Automobile Plant (KAMAZ), with China and with European partners, but the issue of the strategic merger is not on the agenda,” he said.

The deputy minister made a comment on the possibility of merging MAZ into KAMAZ which was discussed earlier: “The option has been taken from the table, because the Russian side’s offer failed to satisfy the Belarusian company.”
