Belarus might not be Poland’s ally, but the latter should try to draw Minsk closer to the West, Marek Magierowski, Head of the Polish president’s press office, says.

Among other things, the top official was asked about Andrzej Duda’s presumable visit to Belarus.

“Of course, talking about foreign policy, it is really hard to rule out anything; Belarus is definitely not our ally in the same meaning as the United States, Germany or other NATO and EU member countries,” Head of the presidential press office stressed.

According to him, Belarus is a kind of an ‘undecided’ country when it comes to the political context. In his opinion, it does make sense to invite Belarus to come closer the West and help it turn into a more democratic state.

As the world considers Poland a defender of Ukraine’s interests, it could also undertake a mission of advocating pro-Western aspirations of Belarus, Marek Magierowski added.
