Lukashenko says no to fuel prices raise

In beggining October, the Belarusian government has made a decision to link fuel prices to the rate of fuel. A month passed and the decision turned out to be wrong.

Yesterday Belarusian TV viewers in the news on state TV could see almost 25-minute report from the meeting of the President with the advice of ministers and leadership of the National Bank. During the meeting the representatives of the government proposed another increase in fuel prices in order to alleviate the Belarusian refineries.

Hard for the people, even harder for refineries

Belarusian refining industry may become a victim of the so-called. “Russian fiscal maneuver”, which consists in replacing the export duties on oil tax on minerals. As a result, price of a ton of Russian oil to Belarusian refineries could rise by as much as $ 100.

“Every fool can do it”

Lukashenko, however, was a staunch and again acted as a critic of the government appointed by himself.

“Look for that money in refineries and trading on the external market. You need to use these methods. They took the prices and rise them. Every fool can do that. “- Lukashenko publicly attacked his ministers.

Lukashenko enjoys from time to time to show “who’s the boss” withdraw decisions of his ministers. In 2011 he partly pulled out of the increases of fuel prices after a wave of social protests.
