Lukashenka urges Putin to lift restrictions in Belarus-Russia trade

All restrictions in Belarus-Russia mutual trade should be lifted, Alyaksandr Lukashenka told Russian president Vladimir Putin who arrived in Minsk on Wednesday to discuss the Belarusian-Russian trade and economic cooperation and other important issues of bilateral relations.

“The elimination of existing restrictions in mutual trade would ensure the stability of our economies and raise the wellbeing of Belarusians and Russians,” state-run news agency BelTA quotes him as saying.

According to Lukashenka, the economic crisis should unite the participants of integration processes, encourage them to develop cooperation and internal production chains, stop competition and enhance interaction on external markets.

“The resolution of these issues in the Belarusian-Russian relations will promote the development other formats of the integration association,” the Belarusian leader stressed.
