Lukashenka to officials: Stop monkeying around! Harvest is your responsibility

President Alyaksandr Lukashenka has conferred the ‘broadest’ powers to heads of district executive committees during the harvesting campaign.

“I would like you understand that the decisions of heads of district executive committees connected with the harvesting campaign made before 1 October 2017 are irreversible and must be accepted without any appeal. If a head of a district executive committee needs to do something, it will be done. No one can interfere with his administrative and organizational functions. Only a governor can correct him if he agrees. I am saying this to avoid excuses that someone did not have enough authorities to harvest grain,” he said st Wednesday’s nationwide teleconference.

According to the Belarusian leader, each district has only 3 or 4 troubled and distressed farms.

“Tackle the problems! Do not monkey around the district pretending you are keeping an eye on everything. Go to a place where you are really needed. Heads of district executive committees are individually responsible for the troubled farms. That is why they have been given a free hand,” he added.
