Lukashenka to Belarus IT sector: Earn money, but there must be order

President Alyaksandr Lukashenka called on Belarusian IT professionals to create favourable conditions so that ‘talented people’ could fulfil their potential.

“Belarus should be a real mecca for talented people, prosperous companies and international corporations. Our country stands a good chance to become at least a regional leader in the development of artificial intelligence, big data, blockchain technology,” Lukashenka believes.

However, he warned the IT sector against ‘neglecting the interests of the state that provides assistance and ensures stability and security.

“All clever and brainy people fully realize now what stability and order mean. And everyone is seeking such a shore. We are ready to establish a ‘pier’, and even more – a ‘harbour’. You should be good hosts in this harbour, i.e. provide people with the opportunity to earn money. But the state needs power. Therefore, it should be supported. What I am getting at is you should not forget that you are residents of a particular state when earning money,” Lukashenka stressed.

“You will never blame me for your taxes being embezzled from the state budget – because such thing will never happen! If you want to offer new ideas how to budget money – you are welcome. All reasonable initiatives and proposals will be implemented immediately. I will ensure stability and nonintervention. But there must be order,” he said.
