President Alyaksandr Lukashenka has met with his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev In Tashkent on September, 13.
According to the Belarusian leader, 19 ‘very specific’ agreements were signed.
“I do not recall the signing of so many documents at the highest level with any other country,” Lukashenka stressed. He praised Shavkat Mirziyoyev for his ‘directness and practical approach to problems’ – in contrast to his predecessor Islam Karimov, who preferred ‘protocol talks’.
The intergovernmental agreement on social and economic cooperation for the years 2019-2023 and its implementation program are major documents signed in Tashkent. The parties are set to increase trade turnover amount to $1 bn.
“Result – that is the word which is now on the front burner in Belarus. Half the government lost their positions for the lack of results. After all, we do have dictatorship – both in Belarus and Uzbekistan,” Lukashenka stressed.
However, he thought better and said he had used the word ‘in the finest sense’. No one puts others in prison or executes, he added.
