Belarus president Alyaksandr Lukashenka has suspended top officials of the Operations and Analysis Center until ‘some facts’ are thoroughly investigated.

“Before making any decisions I would like to hear about these problems and hear answers to questions about these problems even from some people, who are present here. In the past I promised that we would meet in this composition in order to avoid all kinds of gossip and speculations. I would like to reemphasize that I am ready to hear out everyone if necessary before making the decision,” he said opening the government conference involving the head of state and representatives of law enforcement agencies.

At Friday’s conference, he made a number of personnel decisions, including those concerning the Operations and Analysis Center. Among other things, the agency regulates the protection of classified information, including state secrets or other information, which is protected in line with the legislation, against leakage by technical channels, against unsanctioned and unintended actions. According to the Belarusian leader, a special commission had found faults in the agency’s work.

Until today, Syarhei Shpyahun has been in charge of the Operations and Analysis Center.
