Lukashenka ready to withdraw Ukraine troops from Debaltseve, bring their weaponry to Belarus

Belarus could play a bigger role in resolving the conflict in Ukraine, in particular, in Debaltseve, Aliaksandr Lukashenka said during his meeting with President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Suma Chakrabarti on Wednesday, state-run news agency BelTA reports

“We are ready to be more than just an intermediary. We can help find a decent way out of the Debaltseve conflict and withdraw all Ukrainian forces from there under our guarantees that they will never fight again,” he said.

The Belarusian leader expressed his readiness to take away the weaponry held by the Ukrainian military surrounded at Debaltseve and bring them to the territory of Belarus. “Thus, it will never be used in hostilities,” he stressed.

Lukashenka assured Ukraine, Russia and separatists (so called Donetsk, Luhansk republics) that the conflict could be resolved ‘within a day’, the agency reports.
