Lukashenka prepares no successor and urges opposition to change ideology

The head of Belarus Alyaksandr Lukashenka said he is not grooming a successor, and is not expecting a Crimea scenario.

“I am against any heirs. My sons are not presidents and are not seeking it,” Lukashenka said in an interview with the media holding Bloomberg, shown on TV channel Belarus 1.

He stressed that the president should be elected in the elections. “The people must choose who it will be,” said Lukashenka, interfax.by reports.

Speaking about the Belarusian opposition, Lukashenka noted the fact that they have to change the ideology. “With this idea of “the worse, the better” people will not accept them,” said the head of state.

Another Crimean scenario?

According to Lukashenka, situations similar to the Crimean scenario will no longer happen: “If there is no direct aggression against the territory of Russia, there will be no “Crimea”,” said the head of Belarus.

“How many times did it (Crimea – Belsat) pass from one hand to another. Turkey claimed it, as well as others… Everything is possible in this life,” said the leader of Belarus.

He stressed that “history teaches us that everything in this world is very mobile”: “No one knows what kind of world we will live in tomorrow.”

“US dictatorship far ahead of Putin”

“There are no dictators, except the United States, in the world today,” said Lukashenka.

Answering the question whether the President of Russia is a dictator, the Belarus leader said: “Using your approach, the US dictatorship is still far ahead of Putin.”

Explaining his point of view, the President noted that America has all the resources to the give someone the law in the world today.

“Nobody in the world has such resources. Russia is much weaker than the United States. Therefore, it is less of a dictator than the US,” concluded Lukashenka.

The exact date of the presidential elections in Belarus will be determined at the beginning of August 2015. The most probable date is 15 November.
