Lukashenka orders to find money for pension increase from September 1


 At the meeting on issues of social welfare, the head of Belarus, Alyaksandr Lukashenka, instructed officials to raise funds for 5% pension increase from September 1.

“Alyaksandr Lukashenka has ordered to raise funds in order to plan a 5% increase of pensions from September 1. Minister of Labour and Social Protection, Maryiana Shchotkina stressed that this task would be executed,” press service of the Belarusian leader informs.

Minister Maryiana Shchotkina told Alyaksandr Lukashenka that at present, 2 million 573 thousand pensioners receive pensions from the fund of social protection of the population. According to her, the pensions are paid from the 5th to 26th.

The average retirement pension amounts to Br 2.749 million. In accordance with the provisions of the National Security Concept, ratio of the average old-age pension and the average wage in the country, the so-called replacement rate, should not be lower than 40%.

In January-May this ratio was a little over 43%. The Minister stressed that such proportions will be also preserved at the end of the year. The state monthly pays pensions and allowances in the amount of Br 7.4 bln.
