Lukashenka: Only honest investors are welcome in Belarus, thieves will be jailed

Only responsible investors will work in Belarus, president Alyaksandr Lukashenka made the statement at Wednesday’s meeting dedicated to Belarus Independence Day.

“I recall how a number of individuals decried some convictions. They’ve been recently saying that it was Lukashenka who put those people into prison. It will be the fate of everyone, who comes to our land in order to line their pockets and destroy labor collectives,” state-run nes agency BelTA quotes Lukashenka as saying.

“I tell the same thing to any investors, western, domestic, or eastern ones: treat our country and our nation like you treat you family. Don’t be a cheapskate, don’t fatten your wallets. Give something first to the people you have promised happiness to. If you don’t do it, you will not work here and we don’t need such investments in our economy. We can handle our economy on our own,” the Belarusian leader stressed.
