Man-on-the-street video, turn English subs on

‘Who is to blame… I do not really follow politics!’

‘There is simply nothing to do! That was the reason why I left this country in the 2000s.’

‘Someone should take responsibility, shouldn’t they? There might have been different reasons for that, e.g. the overall economic situation’

‘Only Lukashenka is to blame! No one but him! We regret that we voted for him! See this mayhem? My husband is 58 y.o., he has been working as a builder for all his life, but now he is paid hardly enough. Sometimes the whole construction brigade is out of employment for months.’

‘We get our pension payments, they are good enough. Let young people think about that, raise their voices, get involved.’

‘It is the government that should care about people, they should take some effective measures. If they are not efficient, people are to decide whether they should cast their votes for them at elections.’

‘I think it is a fault of regional and district authorities. It may seem that everyone is employed, but in fact, very few people do have real jobs, our plants are idle.’

‘It is our fault. No one but us is to blame.’

‘The unemployment rate may be growing due to the fact that the city enterprises are staying idle, and people do not have jobs.’

‘Americans! They are 100 per cent behind that! It is their tricks! (laughing)’

‘I believe our leadership is to blame – from ministers to other top officials’.
